Besides producing work under the label Made in Mokum, I teach ceramic- and pottery-students. It's something I've always loved doing and it's a great way to learn things yourself. I've been teaching at the KleiAcademy for 7 years now and I teach occasionally at my own studio, mostley on request. I've given masterclasses in throwing and workshops about glazing.
Sometimes in spring I go on a mission to let secondary school pupils feel the clay. During the workshops they sculpt and form and they have their first experience at the potterswheel. It's very rewarding to see childeren enjoy clay and see those that are not so good at 2D and drawing, excell in 3d and sculpting.
I have a passion for schoolplates. So it was inevitable that I would design and make some for the classes that I teach. There are plates for Throwing, The Electric Kiln and Chemistry for Potters. They are printed on color-proof and waterproof canvas and finished with grey trimmings and black wooden rails. They were available in dutch and english, 325 euro incl. vat. but at the moment I don't have the time to produce them.
I am an artisan potter based in Amsterdam. I create ceramic pieces I love and share them with you. I focus on making vases, bowls, and pots. If you’d like something custom-made, just ask—I can craft one especially for you or your loved ones (dead or alive). My work is sometimes dark and quirky, even wonky if that’s your style. I’m not overly concerned with traditional perfection.
I strive to create useful and beautiful pieces. Even without flowers, brushes, or branches, my vases can stand alone as beautiful objects. They are tough—but please, don’t throw them at people. All of my shapes and glazes are homebrewed, made right here in what I call Mokum.
Really, what more do you need to know? Drop me a note to share your thoughts, ask a question, place an order, or anything else you might need.
